very common question. The official answer is
that we are computer consultants, and we do a
little bit of everything computer related.

Home User -
Had a broken laptop. Took it to two
other Halifax firms first, they said it
was unfixable (and charged him for their
time). We were able to repair it in less
than an hour. |

Was having problems with a new video
game causing some video corruption. We
took his system, reproduced the problem,
tracked it down to being caused by his
video drivers. Changed to a more
compatible version, and fixed the
problem. |

Service Station had their hard drive
crash and it contained two years of
accounting data that they needed
recovered. We recovered data with our
custom recovery software, and gave them
a copy on CD. |

Halifax office had a computer purchased
from a Yarmouth firm, and it needed some
Warranty work. While the Yarmouth firm
was happy to do the work, the local
Halifax office didn't want to ship it
down and wait for it to come back. We
took a look at it, isolated and repaired
the problem, and had it back the next
day for less than the cost of shipping
it in the first place. |

Had an older machine, wanted to upgrade
it for more power. We talked to the user
to find out what he needed, and upgraded
his machine within his budget. |

corporation required tech support and
parts. They have free tech support from
their head office in Montreal, but
getting good support from them in a
timely manner is next to impossible.
They contract to us for their smaller
needs, and have a much smoother running
office as a result. |

Company has a number of PC's from
various locations, and needed someone to
network them together, setup file and
print sharing, automated backups, and
internet sharing to each desktop. We
designed the network, supplied the parts
and the service, and now supply them
with quality PC's as well. |

Home User -
Had a older Dell computer that was still
under warranty. It was crashing and
misbehaving, and Dell was happy to fix
it, but it would have to be shipped back
to the factory for testing and repair.
The home user couldn't be without the
computer that long, so he brought it to
us. We looked at the Dell, found it was
a bad memory chip. We removed the chip
(replacing it with a loaner from our
stock) and he sent the bad chip back to
Dell for warranty replacement, saving
time and money in shipping. |

Had all their tech support performed by
a friend of a friend for next to
nothing. Tech was a nice guy, but were
getting terrible service. One day their
tech guy up and left for a better job in
the States, stranding them with a barely
functioning office. We were called in to
straighten up the network, provide
ongoing tech support, and fix a number
of machines. |

repairs. We rented him a laptop at a
discount to use while we repaired his

proprietary financial software from a
company in Ontario. They use the
software every day, and needed someone
local to help them operate and properly
integrate the software into their
business. Although we had never used the
software before, we were able to quickly
learn how to use it properly, and now
support them on a regular basis for
