5 Reasons You Need Cloud Backup

Cloud Storage is the preferred method of data backup

A recent study undertaken by Spiceworks IT Network has shown that data protection continues to be a challenge for small to medium sized businesses. This study reports that 60 percent of small to medium sized businesses (SMB’s) prefer to back up their company’s data using direct-attached storage (external hard drives, backup servers, etc). 56 percent of these businesses had no intention of migrating to cloud backup any time soon.

Data is often considered by many to be a company’s most valuable asset; whether it’s lead lists or customers credit card details. Any loss of valuable information could be devastating to any type of business. In fact, 45 percent of respondents said their organization had experienced data loss and 14 percent were never able to restore their lost information.

According to US government agency FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), over 40 percent of small businesses never reopen their doors after a disaster.

Below are the 5 reasons you need cloud backup – no matter the type of business:

  1. SIMPLE: Cloud backup solutions have made ongoing management and restoration of data very easy. With just a few clicks, backed up files can be easily found and restored.

  2. AUTOMATIC: Time is one of the most commonly stated reasons companies are not backing up their data. Cloud backup does NOT require an additional time commitment for you or your customer. All files are automatically and continuously backed up to the cloud whenever you’re connected to the internet.

  3. AFFORDABLE: Small businesses don’t have unlimited IT budgets. It’s important to use a solution that makes sense to you and won’t require your customer to incur a higher spend on your product or services. For a low predictable monthly fee, you can have all of your businesses valuable data backed up securely to the cloud.

  4. ACCESS YOUR DATA ANYWHERE: Having your data in the cloud allows you to access it anytime, anywhere in the world. As long as there is an active internet connection through a computer or mobile device, all files are readily available. This means there is no need to travel around with your laptop or having to go back to the office to access those important files!

  5. OFF SITE: It’s extremely important to keep copies of your important data offsite. Even if files are backed up on a file server or hard drive, a hurricane, fire, flood or theft could destroy the equipment and thus your data. Keeping your backed up files in the cloud will ensure your data is safe, no matter what is happening at your office.

Storing data in the cloud has changed the data backup industry forever. Because of its often affordable pricing, businesses of all sizes are able to take advantage of this technology. The solution is simple and the data is available anytime, anywhere.
